Cragun’s Resort – Adjudication, Saturday sessions, and AfterGlow

The 2010 Big Sing will be an event of firsts. This will be the first Big Sing where all choruses may stay at the same facility, encouraging fellowship and comraderie between the groups. Most activities are within walking distance.

This will be the first Big Sing that will feature a Friday night hospitality gathering. The 2010 Big Sing will also feature women’s activities, amenities at one of Minnesota’s premier resorts, and yet to be named surprises.

How do we get more details about the weekend?

www.staplesmen.org is the website of the Staples Area Men’s Chorus. Information will be posted to the website as it comes available. A host has been assigned to each chorus to answer questions and assist with arrangements.


What will the weekend cost?

Cragun’s has reserved their entire facility for us. Rooms are reserved at $113.96 per night double occupancy. Details and reservation forms are listed on the web.
Double occupancy – 1 couple or 2 guys sharing a room $227.92 for two nights  Quad occupancy – 2 couples or 4 guys sharing a room $227.92 plus $64 activity fee = $291.92

We are presently working on meal menus and costs. All meals are optional and can be purchased separately. Tickets for each meal will be distributed to each chorus next spring as meal numbers become finalized.

All prices posted include beverages, taxes, and service charges.
           
Can I bring food and beverages?

Cragun’s does not allow cooking in the rooms, but there are refrigerators and microwave ovens in each room so you may bring snacks, meals, and beverages as you wish.

Cragun’s has an open beverage policy. You are welcome to bring beverages (including alcohol) with you to enjoy in your rooms or poolside. Vending machines are available for light snacks, sandwiches and beverages.

Alcohol Policy

Craguns’ allows us to bring in alcohol as responsible adults. Friday and Saturday activities are scheduled poolside. Glass is not allowed poolside, so all poolside beverages must be in cans or plastic cups. You are encouraged to bring your own. The AfterGlow party will have served by bartenders using the traditional ticket system.

     
Hospitality Room
 
Each chorus is encouraged to reserve a room poolside. You may occupy the room or choose to use the room only for hospitality purposes. The poolside area will serve as hospitality rooms for the Friday night activity and Post AfterGlow Party. The poolside area will be a natural gathering spot for the choruses.

Each chorus is encouraged to bring snacks to share at your hospitality room Friday evening. Suggested foods are chips, dips, cheese, sandwiches, meat trays, and veggie plates. Craguns does not allow cooking in the rooms but do have a microwave and refrigerator in each room.

Activity Schedule

Friday night – Adjudication concert is scheduled at Craguns in the Sports Center
Adjucation for all choruses will be scheduled after adjudication concert is complete. This will allow you to see more choruses perform, and benefit from the experience of observing the adjudication of other choruses. A poolside hospitality party with entertainment is planned after adjudiction!

Saturday – Big Sing Rehearsal is scheduled in Staples Saturday morning.
Women’s activities will be schedule starting Saturday morning.
Men will come back to Craguns before noon for lunch , workshops, and free time.
The Big Sing is scheduled for 7:30 PM in Staples
The AfterGlow is scheduled to start about 10:00 PM at the Craguns’ Sports Center
Post AfterGlow party will be poolside. Craguns’ Bear Trap Bar will be open for dancing and karaoke until 1 AM.
Sunday – Travel home or (weather permitting) stay and golf at one of the many Brainerd golf courses.

Reservations Off-Site

All chorus members are encouraged to stay at Cragun’s. We have complete use of the Craguns’s facility, including pool, sports center, golf course, and walking trails. A complimentary golf round on their executive course in included with your room. Chorus Members that stay off site will be required to pay a $16 daily fee to enter the Craguns’ campus.
 
We encourage all choruses to stay at Cragun’s to enjoy the fellowship and comraderie between members and guests.

Reservation at Cragun's

Please Register now!!! You will find a registration form at our website www.staplesmen.org . Registration is by mail with payment by check or credit card. No phone reservations are accepted. All reservations require a $125 down payment per room. The down payment is refundable (less $25 handling fee) until March 9th, 2010. Deposits are non-refundable after March 9th but substitutions are allowed.
   
There are 200 rooms available in the Cragun’s complex and another 50 cabin rooms available.  We are opening all available rooms to non-chorus members on Nov 1st.
